VICTORVILLE, Calif., July 17 (High Desert News Online) — Costco food courts in multiple California locations have started serving a new chicken strip item priced at $6.99, according to menu boards and employees at stores from Southern California to the Bay Area.

Workers at Costco locations in Alhambra, Los Feliz and on Rosedale Highway in Bakersfield said the item appeared July 11. A Santa Rosa employee said it arrived July 6, and a worker in Concord said it had been available for a few days by July 15.

The order includes five chicken strips or tenders and dipping sauce. At Costco’s Victorville warehouse, 14555 Valley Center Drive, the food court menu also lists crispy chicken strips for $6.99, with five breaded chicken breast strips and sauce.

Menu signs cited by reporters list the item at 1,130 to 1,640 calories. At the California locations checked, the chicken strips have taken the place of Costco’s combo calzone.
