Hesperia Unified School District says it is developing a comprehensive Facilities Master Plan for its 24 schools, which range from 17 to 68 years old. The plan is intended to establish priorities for facilities improvements over the next 15 to 20 years.
What the district plans to study
Throughout the 2026-27 school year, the district says it is working with students, families and staff at each school to understand what is working well, identify short- and long-term facilities needs, and gather input about what campuses may need in the future.
Superintendent Michelle Smith wrote that the process will allow the district to establish priorities and develop a plan to guide facilities improvements. The district said the effort is intended to support safe, well-designed and well-maintained learning spaces.
How families can participate
Families are among the groups Hesperia Unified says it will engage as it evaluates facilities at each campus. The newsletter describes the participation as gathering input during the school-year planning process but does not provide a meeting schedule, survey information or another specific method for submitting comments.
Campus needs, costs and funding
The district’s announcement does not provide a campus-by-campus list of needs identified so far. It also does not include estimated project costs or identify funding sources for future improvements.
In explaining the need for the master plan, the district cited 87 graduating classes across its three comprehensive high schools: 41 at Hesperia High School, 30 at Sultana High School and 16 at Oak Hills High School. The newsletter did not identify which campuses fall at the 17- or 68-year ends of the district’s age range or give a specific date for completion of the master plan.
