History of Victor Elementary

According to the district’s website, Victor Elementary School District’s history dates back to 1896, when the Victorville school system started with a one-room school house.

However, according to the financial records from the district, the present-day Victor Elementary School District was created as a separate district in 1947. These two dates represent different historical moments: 1896 is when the local elementary education started, and 1947 is when the present district organization was established.

The growth of the Victorville area turned the district into one of the biggest elementary districts in the High Desert.

VESD currently operates 18 schools, which include two dependent charter schools, and serves transitional kindergarten to sixth grade students.

The district also changed the way trustees are elected, moving to trustee area elections starting from the 2018 election cycle. Five areas now elect district trustees.
