Nearly 1,900 Seniors Graduate This Month

Hesperia, California (High Desert News Online) – The Hesperia Unified School District will celebrate the graduation of 1,885 seniors during a series of commencement ceremonies beginning May 20 and continuing through May 28, marking another milestone year for one of the High Desert’s largest school districts.

District officials announced that the Class of 2026 achieved record-setting academic and career preparation milestones, including more than 70% of graduates meeting California university entrance requirements, nearly 70% completing Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways, and 69 students earning Associate’s Degrees while still enrolled in high school.

  • Record-breaking academic achievements
  • Career Technical Education growth
  • Dual enrollment and Associate’s Degrees
  • Graduation livestream access for families
  • HUSD’s continued expansion in the High Desert

The graduation ceremonies will be held at both Oak Hills High School and Glen Helen Amphitheater, with live-stream options available for families unable to attend in person.

Graduation ceremonies begin Wednesday evening with both Canyon Ridge High School and Shadow Ridge High School ceremonies at Oak Hills High School. Mojave High School follows on Thursday evening. The district’s three largest traditional campuses — Oak Hills High School, Sultana High School, and Hesperia High School — will hold ceremonies next week at Glen Helen Amphitheater.

District leaders said the expanded use of livestream technology continues a practice first widely adopted during the COVID-19 era, allowing extended family members and military relatives to participate remotely in commencement celebrations. Since then, livestream graduation broadcasts have become standard across many Southern California school districts.

The Class of 2026 also reflects the district’s growing emphasis on workforce readiness programs. Over the past decade, HUSD has significantly expanded its Career Technical Education offerings, including pathways in healthcare, public safety, engineering, information technology, agriculture, and skilled trades. District officials have increasingly promoted dual-enrollment opportunities with local colleges, helping students graduate with college credits or Associate’s Degrees before leaving high school.

Founded in 1987, Hesperia Unified School District now serves more than 22,000 students throughout Hesperia and surrounding High Desert communities. The district has experienced steady enrollment growth alongside the rapid population expansion across the Victor Valley region.
