HESPERIA, Calif., Sept. 30 (Our Hesperia) — The Hesperia Recreation and Park District has approved agreements totaling $3.3 million to settle two lawsuits brought by former employees who alleged they faced retaliation after reporting suspected misconduct, the district announced Sept. 14.

The former employees alleged they were retaliated against after reporting suspected misconduct and potentially unlawful activity. The district did not name the employees in its announcement.

According to the district, one complaint alleged that Director Kelly J. Gregg exceeded his authority, interfered with personnel matters and investigations, and acted in ways employees considered threatening or intimidating. The allegations have not been established as fact.

The district did not say how the $3.3 million would be divided between the two agreements. It said settling the lawsuits would avoid further litigation costs and allow it to direct resources toward community programs and services.
