Free VV101 Tour Highlights Growth and Services

VICTORVILLE, Calif. (High Desert News Online) – Residents curious about how Victorville’s city government operates can now get a firsthand look through the City’s new VV101 Bus Tour program, offering guided, behind-the-scenes access to municipal services, infrastructure projects, budgeting, and long-term development plans in the High Desert’s largest city.

Top Areas Covered:

  • Victorville city government operations
  • Southern California Logistics Airport access
  • City budget and strategic planning
  • Old Town redevelopment and capital projects
  • Animal care, wellness, and library services
  • Infrastructure and community investment initiatives

Victorville officials announced three upcoming VV101 Bus Tour dates — June 11, June 17, and Aug. 1 — designed to give community members a condensed but detailed overview of how city departments function and how major initiatives are shaping the future of the city.

The free four-hour guided experience begins at Victorville City Hall before participants board a climate-controlled bus to tour key municipal facilities and project sites. Stops include the Southern California Logistics Airport (SCLA), where attendees will have rare access to the airport apron, along with the city’s Materials Recovery Facility and the new Victorville Animal Care & Adoption Center.

The tour also highlights city finances, infrastructure planning, capital improvement projects, community services, redevelopment efforts in Old Town Victorville, the Victorville Wellness Center, and the recently opened Victorville Library.

Victorville has experienced decades of rapid expansion, transforming from a historic railroad community into the High Desert’s largest municipality. Since incorporating in 1962, the city has focused heavily on economic development, transportation infrastructure, and adaptive reuse projects, most notably the conversion of the former George Air Force Base into the Southern California Logistics Airport. SCLA remains a cornerstone of Victorville’s economic strategy, supporting aviation, logistics, and industrial development across the region.

In recent years, Victorville leaders have emphasized revitalization efforts in Old Town, public safety investments, expanded animal services, homelessness response programs, and community health resources. The opening of facilities such as the Victorville Wellness Center and the new animal care campus reflect broader efforts to modernize city services while accommodating continued population growth.

Unlike traditional citizen academies that may span several weeks, the VV101 program is structured as a shorter educational experience intended to provide residents with a concise overview of city government operations and strategic priorities.

A $10 refundable deposit is required to reserve a seat and will be returned upon attendance. Refreshments will be provided, and participants will have opportunities to exit the bus for guided facility walkthroughs.

Residents can learn more or register through the City of Victorville website. Questions may also be directed to the Victorville Public Information Office at (760) 955-1681.
