HESPERIA, CALIF., May 25 — A weeklong San Bernardino County sheriff’s crime suppression operation in the High Desert seized 33 firearms and led to 15 felony arrests, according to a Sheriff’s Department statement reported by Victor Valley News Group.

The operation, called Operation Consequences, ran from Jan. 19 to Jan. 25 and focused on the High Desert, including Hesperia, Victorville and Adelanto, according to the report.

The SMASH Street Enforcement Team, short for San Bernardino Movement Against Street Hoodlums, took part by conducting proactive patrols in the High Desert and surrounding areas, the Sheriff’s Department said in the statement summarized by VVNG.

Deputies and investigators served eight search warrants and made multiple contacts during the operation, according to the report. The Sheriff’s Department said the firearms seized included three “ghost guns.”

Authorities also recovered more than three pounds of suspected methamphetamine and about one pound of fentanyl, according to the department statement reported by VVNG.

The Sheriff’s Department said its Gangs/Narcotics Division, local patrol stations and partner agencies also took part in the operation. The supplied sources did not list the names of people arrested, specific charges, court case numbers or charging documents.

The City of Hesperia maintains a municipal Gang Team page describing local gang-team functions, but the page does not provide details about the January operation.

A separate multiagency operation reported by Fox 11 Los Angeles took place April 20-26, 2024, in San Bernardino County, including Hesperia, Victorville, Adelanto and other cities. That earlier operation involved different dates and different reported totals: 34 arrests, 32 firearms and more than 25 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, according to Fox 11.
