VICTORVILLE, Calif., June 8 (High Desert News Online) — Anthony Torres, 38, of Hesperia, was arrested after investigators seized approximately 1,000 suspected counterfeit M30 pills in Victorville, according to preliminary case information available Friday.

The pills were described as suspected fentanyl-laced counterfeit M30 pills. No lab confirmation, exact pill count, arrest date or location within Victorville was available in the records reviewed.

The agency that conducted the investigation was not identified in the available information. Charges, booking details and court information for Torres also were not available.

The case adds to ongoing fentanyl enforcement in the High Desert and across California. The California Department of Justice says that since April 2022, state fentanyl enforcement operations have seized approximately 15.6 million fentanyl pills and 6,875 pounds of fentanyl powder and resulted in 530 arrests.

In a separate 2023 federal case involving Victorville, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California said Luis Enrique Diaz, 22, of Victorville, was arrested after being indicted on charges of distributing fake oxycodone pills containing fentanyl that resulted in death. Federal officials said that case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
