WASHINGTON, June 25 (DC Times Online) — Visitors to the National Mall will get a new timed-entry attraction on June 25, when the National Park Service opens the Lincoln Memorial’s 15,000-square-foot undercroft to the public for the first time.
The space has been hidden since the memorial opened in 1922. The park service says the exhibit area will include interactive displays and multimedia presentations about the monument’s construction and its place in American history and civil rights.
Tickets are free, but advance reservations include a $1 service fee. Visitors can book through Recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777.
Same-day tickets will be distributed beginning at 8:45 a.m. at the Korean War Veterans Memorial kiosk on Daniel Chester French Drive, just south of the Lincoln Memorial.
