Councilwoman Blanca Gomez arrested in Victorville, CA during the city council meeting

Victorville, California (High Desert News Online) – Victorville Councilwomen Blanca Gomez first elected to the City Council in 2016, has announced in November 2020 after taking a loss in the California State Assembly District 33 race in the 2020 state primary, that she is running for US Congressional seat that is currently held by Congressman Jay Obernolte.  The congressman overwhelmingly won the US District 8 (that was held by Paul Cook that retired the seat), seat in 2020 against Chris Bubser.

Now after the California redistricting commission realigned Congressional, State Senate, State Assembly and State Board of Equalization districts, the US Congressional district 8 has changed its coverage area and it is now US Congressional District 29 that covers Victorville, Hesperia, Apple Valley, Adelanto, Barstow, Crestline, Lake Arrowhead, Big Bear, Phelan, and a good deal of the Mojave Desert and mount.

Councilmember Gomez did retain her seat in 2020 but has a very complicated past.

  • Filed a complaint against the City of Victorville – Dismissed by Judge Bernal.
  • Attended a rally in Rialto for the liberation of US. Immigration laws while wearing of shirt with the City of Victorville logo.
  • Expelled from City of Victorville meetings for disruption of the meeting.
  • Draping herself with a Mexican flag at the council meeting.
  • Arrested for allegations of trespassing at the Hesperia City Hall.
  • Allegations of fraud – Employment Development Department from an unemployment claim.
  • Arrested at a City of Victorville council meeting.
  • Confrontation at Panera Bread that led to arrest.

The above is just a few the controversial past the Gomez has had while on the Victorville City Council.

Currently there are four Democrats that have announced that their hat is in the ring.

From the June 7, 2022, primary, two candidates will run in the November election for this congressional seat. Does Blanca Gomez have a chance in her bid for the US Congressional seat in the June primary? Probably not, due to the fact there are three other Democrat running against her but looks to be a sure thing that Congressman Jay Obernolte will be successful in the primary.
