FLINT, Mich., June 28 (Our Michigan Times) — Damien O’Brien and Jessica O’Brien have been charged in Genesee County, Michigan, in the death of their 7-year-old son, Casper O’Brien, according to court records and the county prosecutor’s office.

Online court records list second-degree murder, torture and child abuse charges. CBS News Los Angeles reported that Damien O’Brien is 40 and Jessica O’Brien is 41.

Casper died on Nov. 4, 2025, after a 911 call from the Flint Township home reported he was not breathing, according to law enforcement officials cited in the reporting.

Court documents cited in the reports say Casper weighed 255 pounds at the time of his death.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said in a statement quoted by the reporting that the parents “neglected this child to the point that he became obese” and described the case as “reckless and intentional neglect.”
