CALHOUN COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA, June 20 (Infinite Headlines) — The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said it has arrested six people after a June 6 fight at the 601 Sand Bar on the Congaree River in South Carolina, where deputies say more than 20 people were involved and at least three were hurt.

Sheriff Thomas Summers said the disturbance broke out during the annual Sparkleberry Duck Run. Video released by the sheriff’s office showed multiple fights and crowds gathering in the water.

The sheriff said alcohol played a role in the violence, and deputies identified numerous cases of underage drinking.

According to the sheriff’s office, the people arrested are Brendan Bonds, Hunter Dalzell, Lucas Scott, Edward Scott, Austin Mizzell and Taylor Knudson. They face various assault and breach-of-peace charges, the office said.

Summers said the injuries included swollen eyes and head injuries. “The injuries were severe,” he said.

The sheriff also said the investigation remains active and that more arrests are expected as detectives continue reviewing video and public submissions. “This kind of behavior will not be tolerated,” Summers said.

Authorities have not said what started the fight.
