INGLEWOOD, Calif., June 26 (Our Los Angeles) — The United States men’s national team fell to Türkiye 3-2 in Los Angeles on Thursday night, but the result did not change its path through the tournament. The Americans had already clinched first place in Group D and are set to meet Bosnia and Herzegovina in the round of 32 on July 1.

Kaan Ayhan scored Türkiye’s winner in the final moments of stoppage time. Auston Trusty and Sebastian Berhalter scored for the United States, while Arda Güler and Barış Alper Yılmaz scored Türkiye’s other goals.

The official match report listed attendance at 70,492. The loss was the U.S. team’s first of the tournament after opening group play with a 4-1 win over Paraguay on June 12 and a 2-0 victory over Australia on June 19.

FIFA’s standings had already secured the Americans’ place in the knockout round before the Türkiye match. The next game against Bosnia and Herzegovina is listed for Santa Clara, California.
